Q. What exactly is the Scentsy Starter Kit, and why do I need it?
A. The Scentsy Starter Kit contains several demo products (a candle warmer, room spray, car candle, fragrance bar, and more), good-sized samples of all 80+ scents, catalogs, order forms, business cards, an instructional DVD, and a whole lot more. The starter kit is $99 (plus a few bucks for shipping) and generally ships via UPS within 72 hours of receiving your application.
Q. Are parties a "must"?
A. No, they are not. There is no requirement to throw a certain number of parties within your first month (or 3 months, or 6 months), nor is there a requirement to throw a party... EVER! You can promote your candle business any way you want. If you prefer casual one-on-one discussions, go for it! If you prefer an e-mail to friends and family, e-mail away! If you want to build a future clientel by giving Scentsy products as Christmas, birthday, or shower gifts, more power to you! Scentsy parties are a fun, easy way to introduce a lot of people to Scentsy and sell a lot of products, but they are absolutely not required.
Q. Are there any scripts to memorize, and is there a dress code for parties?
A. Absolutely not! Scentsy provides useful training tools and advice on how to have a successful party, but the way you run your parties—and your business—is entirely up to you. Scentsy intentionally keeps its product line and pricing simple to make it easy for consultants to relax and be themselves.

Q. Can I sell online?
A. Yes. Independent Scentsy Consultants can sell Scentsy products online at their Scentsy replicated website (ours, for example, is candlemadness.scentsy.us). The scentsy.us-based replicated site is completely optional, and it's FREE for the first 3 months (and then only $10 a month after that).
Q. Can I make my own personal website to advertise my Scentsy business?
A. Yes. In fact, you're looking at one right now. You're free to have your own NON-scentsy.us website in addition to your scentsy.us-based replicated website. Scentsy does, of course, have guidelines you must follow on what you can have on your personal Scentsy website (you'll have full access to their Policies & Procedures once you become a consultant).

Q. Can I sell on eBay?
A. No. To maintain the quality and integrity of Scentsy products, Scentsy does not allow its consultants to sell on eBay or any other auction-type website.

Q. Can I sell at fairs, expos, and similar events?
A. Yes. Scentsy Independent Consultants are allowed to sell Scentsy at local events and expos. You can either purchase inventory to resell at the events, or you can take orders right at the event. Scentsy policy only allows one Scentsy consultant per event (the first to register and pay for the event has dibs).
Q. Do consultants get a discount on Scentsy products they buy for themsleves?
A. Yes, you get a 25% discount. Here's how it works... You pay full price for your order up-front (just as if you were NOT a consultant), but then you receive a 25% commission on the purchase price. So you end up really only paying 75% of the retail price.
Q. When are commission checks issued?
A. Scentsy sends out paper checks on the 10th of each month for the commissions earned in the prior month. You can see an accounting of how the commissions were calculated in your workstation online. (Note: The minimum check amount is $30, so if your monthly commissions are less than that Scentsy will wait until the next month or until your commissions reach $30.)

Q. Are there any monthly or quarterly sales requirements?
A. To remain an 'active' consultant, you must place at least $150 in orders during one out of every three months (most consultants easily meet this requirement). But you're always welcome at Scentsy, whether you're 'active' or not. You are free to schedule as many or as few parties as you like and sell as much or as little product as you like. You can also act as your own party hostess and consultant.
Q. Are there any minimum requirements to earn commissions on my team's sales?
A. To earn commissions on the sales your team makes, you must be a "Lead Consultant." To achieve this status, you must have at least $500 in monthly personal retail sales, at least $1,000 in group wholesale volume in a month, and at least one active frontline Scentsy Consultant on your team.
Q. Are the "Scent of the Month Kit" and "Warmer of the Month Kit" required purchases?
A. No, Scentsy NEVER requires its consultants to buy products. The "Scent of the Month Kit" and "Warmer of the Month Kit" are "opt-in" programs to help consultants become familiar with newly released products and grow their businesses. They are NOT required. (If you want to participate, though, you do get the warmers and scents at a substantial discount.)
Q. What if Scentsy just doesn't work out for me?
A. Scentsy realizes that, even with the best of intentions on both sides, not all partnerships are meant to be. Consultants can leave Scentsy at any time without any kind of cancellation penalty.
